In keeping with my moto that no model is ever ruined I've been working on this Revell 1/48 Corsair for quite a long time. The story is that I messed up the paint three times and had stripped it down each time. The last time I was stripping it I stopped and thought "This actually looks pretty cool- like an abandoned plane." I did some weathering this week and put this jungle theme together. Not sure I'm digging some of these trees but overall I'm very pleased with this. Hope you enjoy.

That looks really good, like a plane that's been in the jungle for ages.
Maybe a good addition would be one or two figures in clearly modern clothes, looking at the wreck and/or taking pictures of it?

I had thought about that, also thought of showing battle damage but it was more of an abandoned scenario and props aren't damaged every time someone is forced to land. The trees growing up alongside it were meant to convey the sense that it's been sitting so long trees have grown up in the meantime.

Very cool save of the Corsair. The only thing I would have done differently would be to lightly sand the decal remnants on the fuselage. I think that would make them look a more worn rather than bubbling and peeling. Extraordinary effort on your part create a cool diorama out of a frustrating situation.

That's a good idea. I wasn't sure how to create the weathering other than put the decals on in pieces and then weather over them. Was trying to fade sections out completely.
