There seems to be some interest, so putting this out there...

I was walking the dog this morning and what do I see coming out of the sun?

A sign, a portent from the Model Gods we dare not ignore!

Here is a list of some folks who may be interested... from a quick review of our posted stash items back to December:
@BarleyBop , @Pantherman , @Tommergun , @Edbert , @Ron2 , @kevin , @Werner Voss

Of course, everyone is welcome!

I propose a start date of July 1st, and as always the only rule is there are no rules! If it has stacked wings, it's in!

So what do we think? Summer build?

Brian

Absolutely!

I think I'm gonna build the SE5a. I was trying to find a Spad to do for Eddie, but either they are all gone or maybe Wingnut never made a Spad?

The Scout Experimental is a 1917 bird, and while I have a 1916 Eindecker, it doesn't qualify. I want to keep the Camel and Albatross for later, after I have experience with these.

Oh, I'm going to meet a fella locally and will likely buy the Gotha today. I've seen that kit built, I might never build it myself, it is amazing.

Hobby linc has a Roden spad.

As I only have one aircraft build under my belt, kinda leaning towards the Tamiya... Today...
That makes sense, but I built the Falco from Italeiri recently and it was a good kit. Mine had different box art though, strange. It was not a Battle-of-Brittian version, but were the Italians in that fight?

I'll be building one or two of these. I have about a dozen different biplanes as well as several biplane bombers in the stash: a Vimy and Martin for example, but those are more than I want to bite off right now.

Have you built a few biplanes? Is there a YT video you would recommend? I've only done one and wished I had four hands to do it.

I've built a few, not many, and it's been by trial and error. It's a different kind of build than a monoplane. The last one I did I finally tried rigging and it came out okay but took some serious thought as to how to go about it. I'm sure you can find a YT video on building one.

Tons of good youtubes, I've been watching lots of them. Something i learned is that British planes (maybe not exclusive) used aerodynamic wires for rigging, meaning not round. They are usually represented by thin PE, in 1/32 scale it would be about 0.3-0.35mm flat steel.

That should be enough to knock your ego down a bit, it did mine!

I have 2 contenders for the build so it will probably be a coin toss to decide, unless something else takes my fancy. Pantherman

Now that really appeals to me, I might have to find one. Pantherman
