Help Support Scale Model Addict:

I got an email about a one day event where you can buy directly from their factory in person. You have to register for a time slot and only have 1 hour in the warehouse

Apparently they are closing by the end of 2026, and no new stock is being replenished

I got that too. They are in New Jersey but about an hour away from me so I doubt I'll do it.

Wholesale distributor Stevens International is closing, so its online outlet, Megahobby, and bricks-and-mortar outlet, AAA Hobbies & Crafts in Magnolia, NJ, will close. The Bass family who own the business are retiring.

The end of the year is the latest target date, but they could close before that, any day, really. As of right now, there is no plan to sell the business, but that doesn't mean it still couldn't happen.

My club, the MFCA, has been meeting at Triple-A monthly for the past 5 years; our marketing chair is AAA's marketing director. He has been holding special sales, announced with emails to their list. Each sale has been for a different brand or brands. And as Blake noted, they have a warehouse sale (sorry, not a factory) on February 28. That should be interesting.

Meanwhile, we have a new location for our meetings and will switch over starting with our April meeting.

Besides losing Megahobby and AAA Hobbies, consider that Stevens is a big distributor serving many retail hobby vendors. Their closing will leave a big hole in the supply chain for those vendors, too.

There's a lot of cool kits for sale in the "Buy and Sell" area in this site also!

I remember that Monogram F101 as a kid, always thought it looked cooler than the newfangled Phantom

I think losing the distributor is the part that worries me the most.

Also sad to see a 40 year history for the brick and mortar disappearing. That was the last worthwhile store with an hour drive to remain. I did not make it there every week or even month due to the distance, but a handful of times each year that I went I spent over $100 dollars each visit.
I will miss being able to actually see the paint bottles in person. It is so much harder to guess if your getting the right color online since the RGB samples are often inaccurate

I was there this past weekend and heard them talking about it. No set time, but seems like it may be closing in the next month or so rather then the end of the year and that was where I had heard that what they have now is it, they will not be doing any restocking so it is a grab them while you still can scenario
