This was my first dive back into building a plastic scale model car in almost 40 years. It was a gift from my wife last Christmas. The kit was a bit warped and lots of flash. I recall trimming, sanding, filing and painting and used some older paints I had in the garage (not recommended btw). Interior was brush painted, adding some details like the cage, thermos, satchel and nightstick was a dive into fabrication. Outside was all rattle can and it won't win any modeling contests, but for a first attempt in a long time, I was pleased with the final result. The antennas were way out of scale so I removed them and used some 22 gauge wire to replace them.
I'll add, I also learned a few valuable lessons- Spraying rattle can lacquer over chrome pen work will cause it to melt/run, cheap brushes and thick paint will leave heavy brush marks, thinner paint, over multiple thin coats, with a good, clean soft brush will get a better finish and lastly, if the worst thing happens and it fails, take a deep breath, step away and give it another try later. If you're not having fun, it's not worth the aggravation.
