Hawker Hurricane IIB, Revell 1/32

Here are some completed shots.

I speak only for 1/32 scale aircraft in saying that I am not a fan of Revell. I have built several of their new tool kits and I can say that this is by far their best. It is far from perfect and we still await the definitive Hurricane which will be the Kotare kit due within the next year. Revell's output is inconsistent and done to a cheap price. Personally I am not price sensitive at all and have always said that I would prefer to build one Tamiya Spitfire at over £130 than three or four Revell at £30. I would not say the same about this kit though. I look forward to the Kotare offering which will include state of the art slide moulding, I expect it to cost double this Revell Hurricane. I will build the Kotare but those of you on a more restricted budget will be able to get a very good Hurricane out of this, Revell will release the Sea Hurricane soon incidentally and as I love the FAA camo scheme I may be tempted. Having gone decades awaiting a decent Hurricane we are now getting a wealth of them from two companies,

Anyway some photos.

Well done!

I totally agree with you about a kit at $100+ being preferable to one at $30. I cause enough frustrations (mistakes) that I do not need any added by the manufacturer.

I resemble that remark, though price is not always a good indicator or quality. I can afford to pay $100+ for a kit, but if I find the quality isn't what I expect, I won't purchase another kit from that manufacturer. Online reviews help, if they can be found, but are no guarantee that what was a good kit when first issued will still be decent five years hence.

Well the Tamiya 1/32 warbirds really are quality and still stand above the rest, well worth their price.

I've only built one (F4U-1A), but do agree they are the best company overall, at least if looking at molds made from the last 5-7 years.

Kotare/Zoukei make awesome kits in 1/32, but a higher price. I still have nightmares about the 1980s Airfix 1/24s, so do not want to talk about that.

But speaking of Tamiya, I've built their new releases, F-4B and P-38L within the last 12 months in 1/48 and those are works of engineering/design and manufacturing art!

I seriously wish Mr. Tamiya would make a 1/32 F6F!

Building one is on my short list, think I'll have to do 1/48.

I would recommend all their WW2 1/32 warbirds. I have built multiples of all of them apart from the Mosquito, only one so far. They are all great kits, Zero, Spitfire, Mustang, Corsair and Mossie.
