ROFLMAO!! Don't piss of the Professor…. That's my job. LOLOLOLOL!Wow .
those 2 words don't mean the same thing .
so yeah , I've been educated longer than you .
im gonna have to get me some of that, oh im feeling old now, i used to say that when younger and it was not about modeling lolI use CA Debonder.
ROFLMAO!!That's what that word means .
good for you looking it up .
welcome to the big-boy table .
yes you are 100% correct. I had to remove landing gear on plane as i decided to display it wheels up, and about 20 sec of acetone and it popped right off. Great thanks.Unless ,
the acetone degraded the CA joint but there was enough acetone to also solvent weld the styrene at the same time .
Traded one bond for another ?
Science!
me tooFor debonding CA joins, I use plain ol' acetone. Careful with the amounts, naturally.
Some use it in the form of nail polish remover, but I use the manly version from the hardware store![]()
Best use I've found for empty model glue bottles is to refill themThat " glue " is all volatile solvent .
1/2 acetone , 1/2 butyl acetate .
Yep ,Best use I've found for empty model glue bottles is to refill themI bought a 100 ml bottle of acetone and another 100 ml bottle of butyl acetate some years ago, and every time my Tamiya extra thin bottle is empty enough that the brush won't reach the glue without screwing the cap on, I put about 10 ml of each in using a laboratory pipette, close the bottle and shake it for a bit. This is not only much cheaper (those two bottles together cost me about the same as one bottle of TET, but I've got five times as much glue for the money) but prevents clutter or waste from empty bottles.
TET is not my main glue, though — I mostly use a solvent mixture I buy in hardware stores, for about €8 for 250 ml (for comparison: model glue costs about that for 40 ml around here), and that I use to refill a Mr. Hobby glue bottle.
I only buy a new bottle of glue when the brush wears out![]()
Question for the Professor,Yep ,
but I buy it by the gallon . ( 3785 ml )
I have at least a gallon of butyl acetate , ethyl acetate , acetone , dichloromethane , lacquer thinner on hand and quarts of xylene , naphtha , turpentine and mineral spirits
Hope there's no smokers in your house, ha!I have at least a gallon of butyl acetate , ethyl acetate , acetone , dichloromethane , lacquer thinner on hand and quarts of xylene , naphtha , turpentine and mineral spirits
