Help Support Scale Model Addict:

I recently purchased this kit which I have been wanting to re-do for a while.

Well, hurricane Beryl has knocked out our power.
"Houston-area power outages grow to over 2.5 million after Hurricane Beryl made landfall"
Do we have a start date in mind?

I had to drive to a store with wifi because I cannot access the internet to check our posts.
We're hoping our power is restored soon.

Yes, indeed. It's bigger than I thought. It's big enough to put lighting in, but I'm not going to do that.

Nope. I just order some rice lights. So I'm going to attempt lighting the cockpit... maybe.

Hope you and your family are well. Stay safe.
Still waiting for my kit to arrive. I will start as soon as it does

Welp, this just showed up. I think I am going to build this Fine Molds Y-Wing and the Bandai Y-Wing in parallel. The Fine Molds version has decals that show wear and tear, in three different schemes. I was going to do custom paint for both kits, but maybe I do this one oob

I think everyone has their kits. If y'all want to start that's fine, I'll catch-up later.
I heard that our power might be restored by tomorrow, Wednesday. We're all hoping it's today.
Right now it's 80° in my house. Yuck!

Houston took a glancing blow from hurricane Beryl, but we got the eastern part of the storm (the dirty side). Lots of wind and of course rain. I heard we could have gotten 5" to 7" of rain.
By looking outside it's as if nothing ever happened. Beryl just moved out within hours of hitting Houston and headed east.
For all y'all in the eastern parts. Stay dry and safe.

Planning to start at the weekend I think. PM

I've just caught up with this thread and saw this news. Sorry to hear you've been challenged by the weather Gary. I hope you and yours are safe and the weather is abating.

Ooh, missed this earlier

looking forward to see how everyone's turns out

This could be the push I need to get some of the backlog done

The question is, does it need to be a kit started from scratch, or can it be a long stalled build that was started a few years ago?

I've got the following...

Round2 1/72 Razor Crest untouched in the box
Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon (started on the cockpit and a bit of the maintenance wells years ago, then stopped)
Fine Molds 1/72 Slave-1 (started nearly 10 years ago, then shelved while I tried to figure out how to get the wing rotating mechanisms functional instead of static kit parts)

Go ahead and bring your long stalled project back to life! I think this is all about finding inspiration.

We kinda make it up as we go so basically build whatever you want as long as it's vaguely got something to do with sci-fi.

So welcome aboard and post loads of photos. Pantherman

I took this group build as an opportunity to get a new hobby desk and clean up my set up a bit. I still have a table in the basement for airbrushing, but I got tired of all the spiders, so I moved everything else up to my office.

Nice and neat, that's a Pantherman 8 out of 10. PM

Anything you want, Blake, whether it has been started or a new build. Were happy to have you join us, as always.

Which version of the fine molds do you have? I picked up the one without Han, I believe that is the only difference. I've looked through the kit some but am holding off on that build for myself. If I can ever find one with Han at a reasonable price I will probably pick it up. I would love to do a diorama on Cloud City loading Han.

Luckily I have 5-6 other versions of the Slave I to choose from. I decided on the MPC for this build. Bought it off ebay a few years ago and hope all of the parts are there.
