OK guys, here's the scenerio...

You work for DreamKnight Industries, the largest leading seller in scale modeling and gaming online merchandise.

Now, here's your project. We want to hit the market to attract new modelers or modelers coming back into the hobby.

Taking any models, supplies... etc. I want you to come up with a starter package. It can be a theme package or a something general.

Here are the criteria:
1. Using the current pricing (check spruebrothers, elm city hobbies, squadron and note the currency) come up with a package that is $100 or less AFTER a 10% discount. So basically, the package can total up to $110.
2. This should be how you, the experience modeler would put together the tools and stuff to get a newbie started on the model in question.
3. Sell it. Give me a great description of the package. We're putting this on our website now. It's gotta sell. Be creative, be sexy. The package text should reflect the target audience. i.e. if you want to target a plane enthusiast, what model and paints and supplies would you put in the package?

OK GO!

(P.S. ECHScott, you should do a contest like this. X amount package someone puts together and you can sell it under their name. lol)

Never fear, DreamKnight Industries has the perfect package for you. Its called The Big Beginner Box. Its not just a model kit, it has everything you need from cutting your first part from the sprue tree to putting down that finishing sealing coat. If the tools, paint, glue, and the kits is not enough, this package comes with an instructional DVD by Scott Girvan and DreamKnight with over 2 hrs of instructional video on how to get started building your own models and hints and tricks on how to build and finish the model provided. With the knowledge gained and the new tools in your hands, all new worlds are available to you to model, military planes, tanks, science fiction, and even warships.

MSRP: $89.99

(I priced out all of the items and they came out to roughly 80 bucks, give or take a few dollars.)

Very nice beginners kit! :)

You know... this is a great senario for a contest. Everyone pitches in a set amount of cash and receives the same kit in their area of building preference. Tanks to tankers, winged things to wing nuts and so on. All is unknown until the start date when the stuff is mass mailed to all. During the time for postage builders can prep by getting aftermarket decals or such, OR perhaps no aftermarket is allowed. Only scratch built details. Then we all have a set amount of time to build the kits and the winner gets a cheeseburger or what ever.

There is a variation on this called the silk purse where everyone starts with an old dodgy kit (sow's ear) and you have to build a master piece. It's a no holds barred for add ons, but instead of purchasing the same kit for everyone, you set up a parameter like all airplane kits will be 80's vintage Airfix kits with a purchase price of no less than 15 dollars. Then we exchange addresses and post each other the dog kits and we see who can make a sows ear.
