Which filters/washes should I use for my u-boat?

Hey all,

So I'm building revell's 1/72 type ix u-boat and I'm getting close to the painting/weathering stage. I just re entered the world of modeling recently and so this will be the first time I've tried to weather a model.

I'm going to be using lifecolor kriegamarine colors. My question is about the filters and washes. I don't want to go nuts but is like to have a basic set of both and I'm not sure which to get. I thought maybe a dark, brown and nuetral wash from mig. But then as filters go I'm not sure which to get and if I should try AK.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would do pin washes- using white, black, brown, and maybe some orange- then tie it in with a gray filter. I have done this before on gray hulled vessels and have liked the results. Best bet though, get scrap plastic-paint it the same color as the sub- and experiment.
