Category: Watercraft
Name of Build: Akula II Fast Attack Submarine
Kit manufacturer: Bronco
Scale: 1:350
Description
This was a quick build with little cleanup and seam work. I decided to go with a standard Russian paint scheme, employing Tamiya Satin Black and Hull Red to achieve the clean look. Tamiya Flat Red and white were used for some detail work and Transparent Orange was used for the Submarine Identification Beacon.
Weathering was done in many layers with AK Interactive products ranging from Salt Streaks/Rust Streaks/Light+Dark Slime and Grime and just a touch of Fresh Oil for the Snorkel,Periscope, and Antennae masts.
Initial plans were to set the unit in clear resin at the waterline, but Ak's effects replicated the effects of waterline algae and rust pretty well rather than obscuring the details under inches of resin.
