Okay, so I asked the question on Youtube, so I guess I'll be the first then.

I have pics coming later today, but I'm working on the 420 scale AMT/Ertl Defiant.
The only work that I have done so far is just filing out the windows on the bottom of the hull and the spots for the running and navigational lights.
I'm working with the clear resin parts from DLM and a few assorted LEDs for this one. Again, I'm no expert at lighting and whenever they do light up, it's still a major accomplishment for me. And I'll also be canibalizing a mini halloween strobe box that I got at a dollar store for the blinking lights .

Again, all the work this week has gone into drilling out the holes for the windows, and I'm sure there must be a better way, but I just haven't stumbled into that one yet. As of this morning, I still have about five windows to finish. And I have the achey fingers to prove it.

If you have a facebook page, and you are already logged into your account, you can see those photos.

Nice work on squaring up the windows.

I'm gonna get those into my photobucket account. I should have known it would do that. I have to admit, I'm a johnny come-lately to facebook.

Yeah, I was way in denial about getting a facebook page.
Quite honestly, I thought it was for kids who stood in front of their bathroom mirror with no shirts on.

But I've been trying to reset this since last night, but my server just hasn't been cooperating. Trying this one more time before I just resort to eloquently describing what I've been doing with this kit.

Edit: Pics won't load so I'll just post the direct links.

Hey there
Okay, so lesson learned about cheap links from facebook. It should always be the other way around. So, right on to the update. Not much difference from the pics, but I do have all of the windows finished. And a small digression..if I had only looked on the internet first instead of going what I saw on the model..I would have found out that I could have gotten away with just drilling out some round portholes...
So, now the donkey ears that spontaneously sprouted from the top of my head have now chaffed from scraping the ceiling and I can get on to the bigger stuff in this build. I still have a couple of holes to drill out for fiber optics and drilling out the hole for the nacelle caps and then I can jump into the lighting.
Anyway, hope y'all are having an enjoyable time with your builds and good luck to everyone else out there gearing up for the contest.

Myeaahh, you know..the square windows aren't so bad. Especially after all of the work that went into this over the last week..and I used my teeth to get those windows opened.

That's a lot of drilling! :) Those AMT models been selling for lots. I've been collecting them slowly. Can't wait to see how this one turns out. That BoP you did came out great! Loved the colors on that one.

Dude,
You're going to hate me, but I scored this kit as part of this huge pile of sci fi kits that this guy wanted to unload on someone for fifty bucks. My girlfriend yelled at me for about an hour after telling me not to spend any money at a recent model show, but all of it went in one ear and out the other as I took inventory. This was one of them along with a few other rare gems...and i did the math...I spent 2.50 on this kit.
Also, not a lot of progress. I have it primed and ready to go again for lighting. But I may have some time to get some work in on this one.

I did pretty much the same thing, only mine was from Ebay. I got the defiant and 8 other kits for something like $25, with shipping it was $40. Most of the boxes were really torn up, but I was after the kit, not the box. A few of them had extra parts from Don's Light and Magic. With Ebay, you have to keep your eyes open and be patient. Deals can be had if you wait.

Any progress on your kit? Mine is slowly getting there, I will post progress soon.

Coming out cool, lots of work too!

did you try using the IMG tags for the photos? IE: [ img] place address here [/img]

Well..
Do we have a deadline for the contest yet?

Truth is..I have not worked on my kit at all. In between the entry and now, I got swamped with a couple of scripts to re-write and a full fledged animated movie to work on.
I should be able to start again in a week or two once I knock off one my professional chores, but if the deadline is in three weeks or so, then I'm out.

Good luck to all, and to all a Great time.
