Hey there, Fellow Addicts

I pulled a model out of moth balls a few days ago..This is the Defiant by AMT from the show Deep Space Nine. Instead of going with the designation from the show I decided to go with a creation of my own called the Impervious. Originally, this was going to be my entry into the 2010 Scale Model Addict contest, but I never got around to working on this due to work constraints.
I have a couple of update videos available on my YouTube page that a couple of fellow addicts have already seen, but I'll just post a few of the work in progress pics on the forum. Anyway, I am lighting this bad boy up and cast some of the parts in clear resin..the first time for that, but again this has sat ignored on my bench for the better part of two years.

And the side by side comparison of the original decal sheet with the new sheet I reset in Illustrator.

Yeah, that's a kewl ship.
If you did a few slight modifications she could easily fit into the Star Wars Universe. :)

Oh yeah...I think this is the Millennium Falcon of the Star Trek Universe.

I've got one more update for tonight before I call it a day. I downloaded the Carlos Pendragon Zambrano Decal sheets for this one. The shapes seem to fit well and I haven't had any issues with the set.

Oh yeah! One mean little ship. I built one last year.

Great job with the lighting, Samurai. Liking the decals too. 8)

Looks really nice like that. Love the name too. Such a great ship to build. Nicely done!

Greetings, Fellow addicts

I have a few more pics to share. This time around, I have finally finished the hull plating. This was an all-day affair and I pretty much left my wife's kitchen table in shambles. Next up is actually getting the Ship designation decals on and getting this hooked up to the stand.
I'm not anticipating many more problems, but hey...The day is still young.

I kinda like the monochromatic look of the whole kit. But with the red striping, I'm sure this will be broken up a bit.

Nice! Paint is just awesome and those decals worked out really well.

You couldn't change the red decals to maybe blue or black even? If it's not the Defiant herself, she doesn't have to have the same hull markings.

I can tell you don't hang out on other forums, them is fighting words in some places!

She is looking good, I hope you don't have any more problems with her.

Oops! Yeah, didn't mean it to sound like that. Sorry being meddlesome there. Peace. :)

LOL..

I just threw down two of the decals I made..My fear was that since I used a clear sheet for the decals (DEE-cals, for those of us in Texas) (deh-CUHLS, for you Canadian folk), I thought the red might just fade into the blue of the hull, or look purple or lavender.
They turned out strong enough to stand out on the blue, but I needed some red in here to break up the monochromatic look of the entire model.
Again, thanks Igard and grendels for checking this mutha out.

After I finish this up, I have to jump back into finishing up the mural I'm painting for my son's nursery. Nothing cool, but Classic storybook Pooh...after that, I have to jump on my Slave-1 build for the contest.

Reminder: This model was supposed to be my entry into the 2010 SMA model contest. I was never able to finish this one up due to work constraints.
Anyway, here's a shot of the decal test. The lighter shade surrounding the arrowhead should fade out once it dries.

Looks excellent!

Good luck with Pooh bear.

Oh and I've always said Dee-cals, but my brother says Deh-cuhls. Can't figure that one out.

If I had left it alone, it would still look like this, but I broke the decal as I ran my brush over it with more solvent. I have a couple of more details to add, but this is pretty much ready to be mounted on the base and wired up.

You can see where the decal got torn up. Too bad. Did you get her fixed or did you leave her as she is.

Well, with the damaged decals, I am just going to make it look like an older beat up ship. I managed to fix the S in Impervious with a little paint this morning, but the red lines look a little weathered.

This one is now essentially completed, but I will have to work on the wiring a little more since it looks like the batteries are being sucked dry even with the power turned off. Grendel, I may be sending you a few PMs regarding this, so beware.
And thanks for the support Igard, I think I'm going to take a week off and help my wife clean the house that I pretty much messed up while working on this one.
You guys have fun out there and on to the contest build...There is a ton of talent in the Science Fiction category already so it's going to be hard to stand out in the crowd.
I'll leave you with a few parting pics of the model..

The lighting is SWEET! You got a great effect on the warp engines, especially those bussard collectors. Nice fix on the decal too. Looks good from here.
