Hi Guys

I'm in for this build with Trumpeters E10 tank destroyer

Gonna show it in a small diorama, with it set up for an ambush hidden in a building.

As it is a what if build I was considering showing it on British soil, but we'll see!

I may also show it in the lowered suspension position if it doesn't prove too difficult

Looking forward to it!

Cool, dio, thanks for sharing the pictures.

I'm thinking of having the barrel poking out through the front of a brick building, the inspiration comes from the picture below:

Also I might have a play with the camouflage scheme to somethign a bit different, after all it is a what if!

Hi Guys

Got back on the wagon with the E10 build, so thought i'd post a quick update!

The E10 was designed to have adjustable suspension but the kit doesn't have the option to do this so I had to drill out the holes that hold the suspension arms to take the lip off.

This is how the suspension looks in the 'lowered' mode, which I thought would suit the scene more as it gives a lower stealthy profile.

I also went with the rubber band track option as there didn't seem any major difference in the finished look. Also a lot of the track will be hidden by the schurzen screens

Hi Guys, turned my attention to the base this week.

Using a picture frame as a base surround, I cut some ply to make the base and then marked some brickwork out on foamboard

and then cut round the bricks to make the joins

and every join slips together perfectly!

Then after scoring the hoizontal and vertical brick lines with a scalpel (time consuming) I peeled back the card covering (more time consuming!)

I wanted to finished the brickwork today, but I'm all peeled out for the day!
Thanks for looking, all comments welcome

Thanks for the comments guys

Just a quick update, peeld most of the paper off now and marked in the brickwork, I also built a double skinned wall for the other side of the tank destroyer.

There will be a roof over the whole structure with lots of missing tiles so you can see through to the E10 (which will have some experimental camo, still to be decided!)
I will do some broken plaster / render over the brick work and maybe even a sign painted on the wall for more interest.

Cheers for looking

This is coming along nicely, really cool idea. I like how you made the block walls

One thing I would try to aim for on the next project like this, is to put the building and tank on an angle to the outline of the base. Having all the objects perpendicular and square to the outline doesn't have as much 'tension' as it does when they are at angles.

It's not a big deal or anything but can help to add a more interesting composition to the final setting.

I appreciate the comments Ken, I'll bear that in mind for the future, always happy to take onboard more tips!

Cheers

Hi Guys

Been busy this weekend so heres the progress:

I've been pondering which way to go on the camo scheme, as its a what if I wanted to try something different and kept going backwards and forwards before deciding to just try one and see what happened.

My thinking was that I wanted a scheme to provide camouflage from the air, so I thought I would try and replicate tree shapes, so I went with this:

Its something different and it was fun to do so we'll see how it comes up after weathering!
On the base I used wall filler spread thinly in some areas to look like the render had chipped and fallen off.
Once this was dry I painted in a brick colour and then picked out some bricks in different shades to give some definition. I will paint in the render with a different colour when dry.
Also I wanted to depict two different surfaces on the floor, so I wire brushed different intensities in the two areas and painted and washed seperately

Anyway thas all for today, thanks for looking

Nice. The camouflage looks cool - I like it. A few questions; How did you paint that? Masks? By hand with a brush? Either way that's a bunch of patience. Is it based on a actual pattern?
