Trumpeter 1/35 M1127 Stryker

Hello Myke!

The long narrow mesh, needs to be flipped around! The others are fine! You did an Awesome job on this..... I just bought another M1132 with surface rollers from Trumpeter.... Can't wait to get it!

As for the Shinsengumi Decals, I get them from Hobby Link Japan, Fill in the Search engine on their Website under Armor (scale models)

http://www.hlj.com/product/SSGMCD018. One example!

Keep up the good work! It's going to be great! No worries!

I promise I've been working on this, just at a very slow pace.
I've been busy relocating my studio..., twice. Here is the final show

Built me up a nice little tool caddy for the desk to mount the light to and everything.

My post for today is one of inquiry. I need to know what colors I can paint these figures. I haven't ordered the camo decals, and wanted to do some painting on these fellas tonight if possible. So help a brother out nerd herders.

I primarily use Tamiya and MM paints so keep that in mind. I do have some Vallejo for flesh colors and the Badger Military colors.

I can't really go off the instructions..., and this is why

As you can see they are not to be trusted. The color it calls for on the table for the body of the vehicle is "light green" or XF-20, but ... ha.... XF-20 is Medium Gray. Not even close to the NATO Green that is going on the body.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance folks

If you are using Tamiya, NATO Green is XF-67, NATO Brown XF-68 and NATO Black XF-69

Vallejo Model Color, use 890 Reflective Green, 846 Mahogany Brown (or some use 940 Saddle Brown) and 862 Black Grey

Vallejo Model Air, use 093 Field Green, 036 Mahogany, and 056 Black Grey.

Not sure about the others.

Thanks Scott. Do you know what color the figures would be?

I've been doing the research for the color conversions above at the links below, and they don't really seem to match up. Or at least it doesn't make sense. One camo pattern is pink, blue, and wine red?

Wow, they really pooched some of those colors.

But...those Gunze colors....they have 2 numbers as one corresponds to their lacquer line, while the other their acrylic line.

I think the first number is their Gunze Aqueous (acrylic) line, and the 2nd their Mr Color Lacquer line, so #19 wouldn't actually be Pink, but Sandy Brown in the Mr Color line.

Confused yet?? LOL

I think the first pattern square is the Desert Camo, while the 2nd one is the Woodland Camo....essentially the same as NATO 3 color.

Unfortunately the Ultimate Paint Conversion chart doesn't have them all listed, but if you remember that the first number is Gunze and the 2nd number Mr Color. Just do a Google search like:

Mr. Color #19

And it should give you the correct color.

That does make sense, and thank you. I knew one was for the lacquer and the other acrylic.
The two resources I was using didn't list the acrylic I guess. I would do searches for them but to no avail. I'll do some google searching with that in mind.

Thanks a million bud!

As promised... a bit of progress on this build.

Decided to add a little bit of extra detail so here I've added the wiring for the smoke poppers (i think they are called).

Slowly but surely I'm picking up my on all this armor stuff. Loving it too.

Next up..., Some slight pre-shading and then the NATO green.

Here we go Myke!!! Primer and Paint has come out!!!! Looking sweet too!! ;) Nice clean primer coat makes all thos details just pop!! ;)

Thanks fellas.

Ordered my NATO weathering set from AK Interactive tonight. Should be able to replicate some subtle rain streaks on this very well with this set. Can't wait to get it.

Thanks fellas!

After a few Magners last night (or Bulmers for you Irish folk), it was time to finally get the paint on this.

Base color has been applied. The photos show it as more of a Olive Drab type of color but it really is a much darker green (Tamiya NATO Green). Once completed I'll get a proper photo setup so I can get some accurate shots of it, but until then....

Started in on the Figures too with a base coat. Decided to try a desert camo for the figures so they would stand out more against the green. It's probably not accurate but that's ok.

I'll go examine the body and clean up anything that needs it then touch up the NATO Green, after that I'll throw down some Vallejo Satin Varnish then start with the details.

Looking like a clean base there Myke!! I like!!! Moving right along!! ;)

Thanks man! And I'm moving right along some more too buddy.

While waiting on the the paint to dry on the body I moved on to the stowage.

IMG_20120123_165109.jpg

I think I'm going to mimic the package on this beast....

stryker-RV_print.jpg

I AB'd up the first coat with some Tamiya Olive Drab (XF-62), Khaki Drab (XF-51), and Khaki (XF-49).

IMG_20120123_174640.jpg

I tried to spray on the color heavy in some parts and lighter in other areas randomly to create some depth before the washes go on. The Khaki Drab are to the left, Khaki towards the top, and the smaller ones are Olive Drab. I attempted to add some depth by to the two in the middle (Khaki) by spraying Olive Drab over the belts. After some filters, washes, and dry brushing we'll see how it turns out. Anyone else every done this with stowage? Since this is my first armor build..., I'm pretty new to stowage. ;D

Some serious progress on this Myke. Some serious stowage too! Your paintwork is excellent. Nice that some figures are included. The Trumpeter kit looks really good and you're making a first class job on it's build! Carry on Sir :)

Thanks FT ;D . That's very kind of you

Just saw this and I think I might have to build another one at some point, but with the lid off :)

Thanks Spud

More work on that stowage type stuff. Photos are with base color and a wash. The middle photo has the first layer of dry-brushing.

And THEN I got some new toys delivered today. (Really quick over at AD them lads are)

IMG_20120125_195449.jpg

So I started some tests with the Filter. The section there in the middle has the filter applied. Not sure how well it shows up but it gives it a more "drab" type color. Definitely changes up the NATO Green.

IMG_20120125_201148.jpg

Off now to add some more layers to the stowage and see if I can get that finished up.

***Moderator Edit*** Changed your last picture as it was showing the same as the previous picture with the bottles....hope I got the right one.
