So.. I've been working on this for 4 years,..on and off,...mostly off
Ferrari-312-T4-2733.jpg
Pull it out of the box, and put it back,...
This is Jody's Driver's Championship car fro 1979, started back in 2019
It's getting closer to done, so I thought I would post the progress thus far...
This is the first picture I took of the project,..at this point I was just noodling it together...

I used BMF (Bare metal foil) to approximate aluminum, instead of going the Alclad look.

the engine...in the beginning.....it is still getting hoses and wiring to this day..
yOLzI2S.jpg
First mockup with stripped wheels..I will be Alclading them later...
OmeDaOO.jpg
Sanded the parting lines on the tires...
KlBqskR.jpg

...4 years later
Khx70dV.jpg
Getting close to the end..My most unfavorite part now,...painting the body..
I will let you know how that comes out
Cheers

Worth the wait. Looking for to seeing the final build.
Pantherman

Was able to tame the exhaust into configuration..
AROebKm.jpg
Tried out some Duplicolor Tornado Red (VW colour) and liked it..so shot the first body part..
veBYHpv.jpg
Stripped the wings of the tamiya chrome, sprayed them with Duplicolor gloss black, and then shot them with Alclad Chrome #107, and cleared them with Alclad Aqua Gloss Clear #600
wq1zCom.jpg
Wet sanded the body panels and sprayed Duplicolor Tornado red 3 coats
4MIKcCw.jpg
Wet sanded the paint using 1000g wet dry paper, then 2 more coats of the Tornado red.
YRNrGyw.jpg
masked off the red and shot Alclad Semi-matte aluminum on the ground effect skirts, and lined the runners and clamps with a Krylon Silver leaf marker
FNQIn6P.jpg
I was worried about the opacity of the decals letting the red show through, so I masked off the red and sprayed Duplicolor Nordic White (Hyundai colour)..
b8qxXuW.jpg
And then decalled using Indycals decals
b0BBJ35.jpg
That brings it up to date except for clear coat...
I need to run to Canadian Tire and pick up some more Acrylic Lacquer clear gloss, so see you in a bit..
Cheers

Welp,..I went ahead and did it
GjMs5nE.jpg
, it's a pinecone with 3 clears on it, I know,,,another 2 coats of clear and then I'll wet sand with 1000g ...again...side pods look good
d9EC9gq.jpg
so after an hour, I masked the brand new clear and shot Dulcote on the rad supports, and engine intakes...

'DON"T TOUCH'.
for 2-3 days
See you in a bit
Cheers

I noticed some slight orange peel on the finish,
uG80LfF.jpg
so I wet sanded again with 1000g and applied Novus polish #2 with a scrap of t-shirt and then polished it out with Maguiar's Ultimate polish..
Here the rear left side has been done
ieNvK1J.jpg
And now complete polish
MCbPVR2.jpg
Now its ready for final assembly....

Your weathering skills are en pointe... wow! I am just getting back into modeling and it never occured to me to use duplicolor paints... duh! I may have to sand down the 1:8 Jag I just painted and get some Duplicolor in a much better color. When I bought the paint at the hobby shop, I didn't notice it was metallic and then proceeded to paint a vintage kit with it. Ugh. The aluminum effect you're getting looks amazing- those wheels came out great, in particular.

I started this model more than 4 years ago, and finally, finished it.

Added many details and wires, until I was happy.

At 1:12 scale it just begged to be super detailed
