After 35 yrs. I am going to try this one again....
IMG_4562600x434_zps012d837a.jpg
The first time I didn't have the patience, or skills to build it properly, and gave up, in favour of less creative endeavours
Anyway, this is going to be a rather long WIP due to extra detail parts from both Best Balsa Kits and Scale Motorsport. This is one of my favorite F1 car liveries from way back. The team only lasted a couple of years ('77 - '78) but won their first event and two more that year ('77) Canadian GP, Monaco, and Argentina. Owned by Walter Wolf,..an Austrian / Canadian,...Read up on this guy, what a character!!
Started this one properly
IMG_4577600x450_zps72d10d9e.jpg
I always start my builds with the engine,...so, here it is so far....
IMG_4629%20600x450_zpsndswnjtk.jpgTransmission duplicolor #cbgm0529 dark spiral grey mett., drybrushed testors flat steel, and then sprayed testors dullcote.....Block sprayed Krylon chrome, washed with tamiya smoke, and then testors dullcoat....Heads sprayed Duplicolor sandable black primer and washed with
gunze sangyo burnt iron. So far ....about 35 parts
And then this
IMG_4628%20600x450_zpsg5mqmzkk.jpg :p
A couple of extra wires added for rear light and oil pump wiring....
Tamiya kits are well known for accuracy and fitment, this one is no exception, although the flash on this one is a little more than usual. Not a complaint, just saying,...
The '77 WR1 was a quick release, by 1978 it was on the shelf!!
See ya soon with more, after I research some more engine plumbing schematics for the Ford/Cosworth DFV's
Q + C + C's welcome!
Cheers

A bit more progress,...
IMG_4633%20600x450_zpsm4k5ekt2.jpg
Wiring done,...I may add a little dullcote to take away that shine,..
Got the exhaust sorted, and first coat of Krylon Chrome
IMG_4637%20600x450_zps7aiodsko.jpg
Shot the seat with black primer and added embossing powder
IMG_4638%20600x450_zps3qnphiao.jpg
Then spent some time making up a proper engine stand,...so I can get all 10 of my sausage fingers into that engine LOL
IMG_4639%20600x450_zpsagvbaakb.jpgIMG_4640%20600x450_zpsa47k80wd.jpgIMG_4641%20600x450_zpsi8wdlboj.jpg

I like the detail you're putting in here, especially the way you've made the brake disk look more authentic

Thnx Q
Just for us...

IMG_4682%20600x450_zpselapnzef.jpg

So,...
Bit of an update,...
After much researching,.... and staring,...
I've decided to go flat black exhaustIMG_4691%20600x450%202_zpsanf4auee.jpg
Bit of weathering to come,..
Did up the wheels with Duplicolor sandable black primer, and then rubbed with Mr. Zip graphite powderIMG_4694%20600x450_zps5citbrxk.jpg
IMG_4530600x450_zpsd50ed996.jpg
Other than a few snapped C connectors ( which were promptly C/A'd back in place), this has gone together fairly well,..
More to come
Cheers

A bunch of small stuff I'm working on....
IMG_4697%20600x450_zps0hxaewbu.jpg
Engine C..,? rods got Testors flat Steel ends and then Testors Acrylic Gold Metallic over...
Testors Acrylic Gold Metallic....?...decent wash..straight out of the bottle ;)
Yes still some touch up and weathering to do on those,... MIG Grime wash is my friend :)
Still waiting on #4 connectors .. trying different things,..
IMG_4700%20600x450_zpskluhgf5h.jpg
nope
I know it doesn't compare to Randy's,...
but what colour should these calipers be, really
IMG_4704%20600x450_zps2q5lbu5a.jpg
Lastly,.. does anyone know how to sand this parting line correctly ,...so it looks smooth..??
IMG_4702%20600x450_zpsyoxfb2hm.jpg
Thnx for looking ,....
and Q.C+C's welcome
Cheers

IMG_4718%20600x450_zpswqfkxoxy.jpg
100 grit took it down pretty quick.. then 250g to smooth them out...(CAUTION!!! older Tamiya kits are much softer, thinner rubber!!)
Used Craft Smart (Michaels(cdn sp)) acrylic paint to pick out the GYear . Then hit it with Testor's Dullcote spray,...
IMG_4722%20600x450_zpskap7mjdz.jpg
Washed with vallejo 76.517 WASH for dark Grey,..Let dry ..rubbed off the excess, hit again with dullcoat,...
IMG_4724%20600x450_zpsbivcowwi.jpg
