After 35 yrs. I am going to try this one again....

The first time I didn't have the patience, or skills to build it properly, and gave up, in favour of less creative endeavours
Anyway, this is going to be a rather long WIP due to extra detail parts from both Best Balsa Kits and Scale Motorsport. This is one of my favorite F1 car liveries from way back. The team only lasted a couple of years ('77 - '78) but won their first event and two more that year ('77) Canadian GP, Monaco, and Argentina. Owned by Walter Wolf,..an Austrian / Canadian,...Read up on this guy, what a character!!
Started this one properly

I always start my builds with the engine,...so, here it is so far....
Transmission duplicolor #cbgm0529 dark spiral grey mett., drybrushed testors flat steel, and then sprayed testors dullcote.....Block sprayed Krylon chrome, washed with tamiya smoke, and then testors dullcoat....Heads sprayed Duplicolor sandable black primer and washed with
gunze sangyo burnt iron. So far ....about 35 parts
And then this
:p
A couple of extra wires added for rear light and oil pump wiring....
Tamiya kits are well known for accuracy and fitment, this one is no exception, although the flash on this one is a little more than usual. Not a complaint, just saying,...
The '77 WR1 was a quick release, by 1978 it was on the shelf!!
See ya soon with more, after I research some more engine plumbing schematics for the Ford/Cosworth DFV's
Q + C + C's welcome!
Cheers

A bit more progress,...

Wiring done,...I may add a little dullcote to take away that shine,..
Got the exhaust sorted, and first coat of Krylon Chrome

Shot the seat with black primer and added embossing powder

Then spent some time making up a proper engine stand,...so I can get all 10 of my sausage fingers into that engine LOL

Thanks for looking in
More to come

Thanks Jq I like how your Mclaren is coming along :D

Update
I really didn't like how the chrome paint on the exhaust, ended up so,...into the easyoff with you!
Started on the P/E parts from Scalemotorsports,.. All of the Tamiya detail needs to be sanded off first,..
Then I sanded the metal parts to make them look ma little used

Started with the cockpit

Little bit more fun with P/E,..the undercarriage,..

And the firewall

Now on to a Vallejo dark wash to bring out all the rivet and seam detail
Cheers

I like the detail you're putting in here, especially the way you've made the brake disk look more authentic

So,...
Bit of an update,...
After much researching,.... and staring,...
I've decided to go flat black exhaust
Bit of weathering to come,..
Did up the wheels with Duplicolor sandable black primer, and then rubbed with Mr. Zip graphite powder

Other than a few snapped C connectors ( which were promptly C/A'd back in place), this has gone together fairly well,..
More to come

A bunch of small stuff I'm working on....

Engine C..,? rods got Testors flat Steel ends and then Testors Acrylic Gold Metallic over...
Testors Acrylic Gold Metallic....?...decent wash..straight out of the bottle ;)
Yes still some touch up and weathering to do on those,... MIG Grime wash is my friend :)
Still waiting on #4 connectors .. trying different things,..

nope
I know it doesn't compare to Randy's,...
but what colour should these calipers be, really

Lastly,.. does anyone know how to sand this parting line correctly ,...so it looks smooth..??

Thnx for looking ,....
and Q.C+C's welcome

Busy busy busy,...just not at my bench!
Just a little update
Have the front end nearing completion

Need to add brake lines and such

On a side note, this old cabinet was in our family owned hardware store for years, it held # drill bits. I forgot I still had it!

Anyway,...found some time today for bench time and hope to get some more done on this, before I get over to see me Ma..
Thanks for looking and as always Q. C. + C's welcome

Sooo ...had a couple of rain days ..= bench time
I was able to spend some time on the tires ....

100 grit took it down pretty quick.. then 250g to smooth them out...(CAUTION!!! older Tamiya kits are much softer, thinner rubber!!)
Used Craft Smart (Michaels(cdn sp)) acrylic paint to pick out the GYear . Then hit it with Testor's Dullcote spray,...

Washed with vallejo 76.517 WASH for dark Grey,..Let dry ..rubbed off the excess, hit again with dullcoat,...

And.......
Daddy's got a new pair of shoes!

Post race dirty shoes , but,.... Ya Sitting on all 4rs
Although I just noticed,...those rears have got to be switched Hahah
It was awesome to spend some time actually modelling again after a long ,.... busy month.
Thanks for looking in...
Q, C, + C's are welcome
Cheers
