I have added mass quantities of putty. I filled all the gaps, waited about an hour for it to sink in then added another coat. May need more after sanding. I guess this is what is known as a "Putty Queen".

Replacement kit on the way. I started sanding and there are porosity holes beneath putty . I am not spending my days puttying, it is getting old like me and I refuse to do it. Have the Academy kit which looks much nicer, still replacing ejection seats.

I hate having to use putty so I pretty much stick with Tamiya though I have built some Academy and Hasegawa kits that were great fits. I hope the Academy kit is a good fit.

I build models for relaxation and I like a particular subject. I don't mind a bit of a challenge but when it becomes work I am right back to where I was before I retired. I am defeating my purpose and no longer enjoying the build. Tamiya is good fit but they don't make a lot of what I like and they have been known to have shape issues. I do prefer their A6M2 Zeros and F4U Corsairs though.

Keep us posted, would like to know more about Academy quality, trying to decide which Indianapolis to go with, Trumpeter or Academy.

I like Trumpeter myself, built a few 1/350 ships of theirs, doing a Fletcher Class with square bridge now. I did a 1/350 USS Buckley and put it in a display case with a 1/350 U Boat. Buckley was a destroyer escort they used in movie "The Enemy Below" back in mid 50s. Good old WWII flick!

Beginning to read a book about the Abercrombie DE343, John C. Butler class, would love to find a 1/350 of that.
