That's no flaw, that's on purpose! I could do a longitudinal statistical analysis of the odds of a piece flying in there... and yes it has happened, and yes I do look in there.

Unfortunately, the odds of finding a piece is inversely proportional to the likelihood of you looking somewhere, so known landing sites get statistically annulled over time. At which point, they start catching parts again, precisely because you've stopped looking there for the aforementioned reason.
