I through together a few shots against a white background for the contest photos, but only 1 turned out well. i'm still learning the "art" of photography...which is more of trial and error until angry. Thoughts from any resident photo-masters?

That's a sharp photo, it looks great.

Trial and error for sure, if you are using manual settings instead of auto (which I recommend) mark down the settings for each photo and then look back at what works and what doesn't and go back to them. If you can figure out how to get snaps like these all the time, you're golden.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Give me a landscape, or a portrait and I can nail it down fast, but model photography and zoinks, I am lost.
