Ah, Early Bird!
This year I want to enter more than 1 piece ;D

Planning big ;)
Well, my main entry will be a sculpt, but I know I'll have some cure and wait time during the sculpt, so I want to try to chop up at least one of these kits - most likely mixing the Bentley with pieces of the 110 to create a .... watercraft 8)

Well, that's the plan.

So I will use this post for the main entry, "the Hunt"
It is to depict a female riding a raptor/dragon during a hunt.
She's gonna be a bit smaller than "The Princess" (for which I used the scale on the right)
IMG_7241.jpg

So I started to create the wire frame
IMG_7242.jpg

and shape it into the pose I have in mind
IMG_7243.jpg

using ProCreate (like GreenStuff) for the connection points

So now this has to cure before I can continue.

Maybe I can unwrap the Bentley ;D

Sweet. I'm really loving this. I toyed around with this (armature / sculpting) a bit during my Speeder / Scout Star Wars build and I'll enjoy watching more of it.

Thanks guys!
So after the basic armature is cured I looked into the mount
As said, I want her to ride a raptor style dragon
And the University of Google provided me with some nice ideas
IMG_7251.jpg

For the dragon I will use aluminium-foil as armature
IMG_7252.jpg

Which looks a bit like this
IMG_7253.jpg

I also started to add mass to the girl
IMG_7256.jpg

proportion check
IMG_7258.jpg

And now I harden (pre-bake under a heat lamp) the lower leg - as this will hold all of the weight
IMG_7259.jpg

So, what do you think?
Cheers
Klaus

Thanks guys :)

Well, since yesterday I added some more mass to the rider
IMG_7260.jpg

Even a bit of detail
IMG_7264.jpg

Also the raptor/dragon got a lot of attention
IMG_7262_1.jpg
IMG_7263.jpg

and they fit together nicely
IMG_7265.jpg

but the armature (aluminium foil) couldn't hold the weight...
so I chopped it off
IMG_7266.jpg

and now he's getting a new leg - based on a wire cloth hanger
IMG_7267.jpg

Dinosaur prosthetic leg :p

This will be a lot of work hats off to you buddy

Thanks guys!

Will it be a Tyrannasaurous Rex or will it be a other dinosaur like a stegosaurus for example
It'll hopefully be a raptor-style (so more along the lines of a Rex, but slimmer, faster)

Well, since the last update I worked on the Jurrasic Prosthesis and re-sculpted the leg
IMG_7268_1.jpg

This was looking so much better than the other one, so...
IMG_7274.jpg

But now both legs look rather balanced
IMG_7279.jpg

Since my wife was complaining about the smell in the oven, when I was baking these pieces, I decided to build my own little curing oven - out of an old metal trash bin, some stone tiles, aluminium foil and a rahter hot lamp
IMG_7280.jpg

and it works :)
So here's how the dino/raptor/dragon is looking tonight

Thanks :)

I was able to work some more on the female rider (sometimes sleep is overrated ;) )
IMG_7286.jpg

Since she's more the warrior-type she looks rather wirily
IMG_7285.jpg

But on the dragon she looks plausable
IMG_7287.jpg

She will get a saddle
IMG_7288.jpg

and the dragon itself still needs a lot of "flesh"
IMG_7290.jpg

Speaking of flesh, I also started to add some muslces to the dragon
IMG_7291.jpg

and finally I was experimenting with some "stamps" to create a scaly skin surface
IMG_7293.jpg

For this I have taken some hexagon shaped plastic rods and drilled small holes into them, these I then pressed into the clay
IMG_7294.jpg

I think this will work rather well - a lot of work though :p
Cheers
