As reported by our guy Nick over at Keeper of the Force:
http://www.keeperoftheforce.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1255

The Star Wars model range is going into high gear,......their announcement that they've got the licence for Ep 7 kits & it looks like they've got the Fine Molds kits for a re-issue:

Exciting times

I read through the threads, they are the FM kits. And they speculate that FM is actually making the kits only using a Revell box.

Read that they are FM kits as well.

Will be interesting to see what they are going to retail for. One would hope, being a Revell kit, that they will be less expensive than the FM kits were.

As reported by Yorkie over at Starship Modeller,....Revell's 'Force Awakens' Star Wars kits get a price & date of release (Oct 2015)

Yorkie said:

Well, they're not announcing what the kits will actually be but it looks like Revell are releasing 9 kits for the Force Awakens (plus two larger packs for retailers containing multiple models).

Just called 'Easykit Items A to E' and 'Items Build & Play A to D' at the moment.

These are more expensive than the Easy kit pocket models so I would assume they are larger models and the build and play are the snap together kits with lights and sounds.

.....well.....the rumours are....

...for the Falcon,....$299

= to £199

How does that work out?......FM is a small company compared to Revell,...Revell can mass produce at a lower cost,...so this price MUST be a mistake,...+ with the release of the new SW films and hopefully Bandai will have a OT / ST Falcon ready for "Force Friday" (4th Sept), Revell releasing an expensive old kit not connected to the new films makes me think they will have problems selling it

She I talked to the dude fro hlj, he even said that the true expense of the falcon was in the packaging. Something I'm sure revell could cut down.

However, if fine molds is producing it FOR revell, then. The price is kinda understandable

Agreed about the packaging price. The giant poster and decal placement sheet were cool, but kinda unnecessary.

The following is a wishful thinking math problem: [I know in the states a lot of crafty/hobby stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby carry Revell SW stuff. If they got these new puppies in + a 40% coupon = WOOOOHOOOO]

All depends on who is producing them. If Fine Molds are doing the kit and just being thrown into a Revell box, then prices would be about the same as the Fine Molds kits. If however they sent the Fine Molds molds to the Revell manufacturer, then I would expect a lower price.

$299 for the Falcon....that's more than it was when it was in a Fine Molds box. I have not seen anything on my end in respect to the dealer side of Revell.

its way cheaper than this kit

Shadowman posted these two emails that he sent to Revell on RPF,....it confirms our suspicions:

I have this information straight from revel (cut and pasted from 2 separate emails. The first email is roughly a month old, the second email was an inquiry to find out if any retooling had occurred (I was concerned about the low part count on the card at Toy Fair)

Dear Sir,
Thanks for writing to us. What you are asking is partly true. Let me explain for you. We will not be taking ownership of the molds from Fine Molds, but we will be getting kits from them to repackage. The first kits should be available in the months of Sept. and Oct. Unfortunately we do not have the prices yet. These should be available soon. Please check out our website for the latest details. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I’m not sure what you saw, but it is not the number of parts or the price.
The Revell kit is the Fine Molds plastic. The Millennium Falcon is over 900 parts and the suggested retail is $299.99.
Hope that helps.

Ed Sexton
Revell, Inc.

So thats why the kit is so expensive

.....but more expensive?

A kit on Ebay is not indicative of the kits "real" price. I can put something on Ebay and ask anything I want for it, doesn't mean I will get it.

Yeah, don't see them selling many of them at that price. More expensive than when the Fine Molds kits were available in the US?

Parts don't make the price of the kit, I can show you many kits that have far more parts than that, that are alot less money, not a Falcon mind you, but still, I have modern kits here that are 1300-1500 parts, and are less than 1/3 the price of that, so parts count doesn't effect the price of the kit all that much.
