Question about AMT/ERTL 1/25 scale '57 T Bird

Has any one successfully built one? II have three of them (the reason is complicated). All three have the same problem--the windshield is significantly too large for the frame. On the first one I tried to cut the windshield, but it cracked. So on the second one I tried to file it down with a jeweler's file. I haven't completed that. The file slipped and scratched the windshield. I figured on the third one I would use a Dremel tool.

Does anyone have a better idea?

I figured it out. There is a gap between the interior and the body. The excess windshield is supposed to fit there. The parts do not fit, in my model, at least. I will try to make it work.

Attached is a picture. Taken before I touched it up. The windshield frame is in the gap between the interior and the body. No windshield yet.
