This may seem like a dumb question but what color are the fire extinguishers on some of the German panzers? I have seen them the color of the panzer, black, white and green. Does it even matter? Any help would be thankful.

They are usualy grey and it should'nt even be visible on a late panzer(43+). Some company just add them to bring details to the hull, but it's not true that there was a fire extinguisher on the hull.

they were many colors even red. a friend of mine has a collection of them in many colors. but what i normally paint them is gray green by Vallejo 886

here is a pic of some Roy.

Thanks for the picture Spud.

HEY ROY ,

Yes this age Old question .... Like SPUD mentioned There were a few colors. Red was usually reserved for th Interior Fire Extinguisher , but for th Exterior you could get away with th Grey/Green , Dk. Yellow , or th Panzer Grey.

Here's a link with more than a few pages on this subject. - http://www.network54.com/Forum/47207/search?searchterm=Fire+Extinguishers+&sort=match

Also Archer Fine Transfers - http://www.archertransfers.com/AR35266.html , makes a nice set as does Alliance Modelworks - http://www.am-works.com/store/lw35067-wwii-german-fire-extinguisher-placecards-p-167.html

I didn't said they stopped carrying them I said that they stopped placing them at the back of the tank, mostly because tank were becoming bigger and bigger and that place was hard to reach in case of fire.

as you can see on the tiger2 from dragon there is a fire extinguisher but on the picture of the real tiger2 you dont see any.

Just to add another variation, the extinguishers were sometimes painted the same color as the tank was painted. Especially field applied camo and whitewash.
