P39Q Aircobra - Thompson Trophy Air Race

Started on the decals tonight, they were very fragile split them in on spot along the top of the engine cowl but hardly noticeable with touch up with some black paint when dry

All the flaps and ailerons are black decals, as I suspected they look rubbish.... Don't line up on the leading edges and will require touching up

So I've taken them off and will brush paint. Will keep the nose decals though.

Somewhat of a set back, really doubt I can finish this on time, but would rather do it properly than rush to the finish line and be disappointed with the end product.

Sorry for the bad pics

Brd , I've tried Pascoes long life floor shine from bunnings or Coles . It works ok as a clear coat but I had really bad results with it reacting with decals. Works fine as a semi gloss clear coat but I don't use it as a gloss base for decals. Haven't been able to find a better alternative so I mainly use Tamiya gloss before I put down decals an pin wash.

Check this link to see what I'm talkin about.

Am I right in saying I can't put this on a stand for the competition because it doesn't come with the kit ?

Thanks for looking ;D

VERY cool!!!!!! I LOVE the finish on it!!!! The subtle weathering is perfect.

As for the stand, if it's just a display functionality, like an acrylic rod, it'd be fine. If you put a bunch of tiny people in bleachers on it, it becomes a dio.

Jim, Nick,

Thanks for the kind words, pretty happy with how this turned out ;D
