P-38 F/G Lightning

Finishing touch-ups underway.
Top decals are complete all but 4 that I will apply after I add a clear flat coat.
I still need to add around 55 tiny text decals.
Tamiya did a great job on these because they are all legible and not a black blob simulating text.

Seems I'm having some trouble of achieving exhaust trails on the booms. I have a base color down which is a pale grey wash. I've watched videos but I just don't have the hang of it yet.
Any advice?
Have a look for the Tamiya Weathering Sets. They look like a case of eyeshadow colours, only in much more macho colours for Modelling. They are a block of colour and come with a double ended tool with brush and foam pad. They are simple to control and easy to work with. For exhaust and other effects they are good.

Thanks John.
I have 2 I used for tanks. I'll look at picking up one for exhaust.
I really like how easy they worked on the tanks.

97% finished! A few decals here and there on the undercarriage and somehow attach the antenna wires.

I found a piece of sheetrock that I will incorporate into a partial airfield where I will place some ground crew and maintenance workers for this plane.
Meanwhile I'll have a Corsair being pulled across the field by a little tug-tractor.

The Corsair should be delivered by Sunday!

Nice finish! Isn't that a beautiful kit?
I like how you used Monogram's classic figures, too ;)

Thank you. I recommend this kit. It was a great and fun build.
The figures came from my B-17 (Chow Hound). So, until I find the sprue with all of the windows to finish up the build those guys will be taking care of the 38.
