NX-01 ISS Enterprise Refit/Rebuild

Next bench project takes me back to the worlds of Star Trek.
I'll be building the 1/1000 NX-01 Refit kit from Polar Lights/Round 2


A look at the kit contents shows many of the parts for the original version of the ship, as well as parts and markings for the refit version that would have debuted in Season Five of Enterprise




I'll be using the Aztec decals from Acreations as well as the 'Mirror Universe' markings from JTGraphics to create a "new" ISS Enterprise NX-01 to act as a 'testbed' for the technologies found in the USS Defiant


Basic assemblies are complete. They will await final assembly after paint and decalling



The parts were given a base coat of Krylon grey primer followed by Aluminum metallic from rattlecan



The nacelle tips and deflector dishes were sprayed with metallic copper

That glass top 'bench' is actually some glass shelving on my workbench stool.
The actual 'bench' is too cluttered to work from right now

Update on the "refit" build.

Started working on the aztec decals.
Really glad I didn't use a darker base coat for the model as these decals would have vanished into it.
Secondary hull:



Lower hull aztecs in place, along with the markings


Placed the markings on the secondary hull.
Also picked out the nacelle endcaps with transparent red. Picked out the impulse engines and crystals in transparent blue


Went in and placed the aztecs on the upper hull.
This was followed by the markings.
After final assembly, I went in with a black wash and painted in the impulse engines as well as the vents on the struts.
The bridge dome was picked out in brass
Windows were picked out in black with a fine brush

They look like they worked out really well .
