MPC Falcon cockpit tunnel upgrade

I'm trying to scratch-build a tunnel and cockpit for the MPC Falcon kit to try and bring it up to the correct (bigger) size. But, I'm having a heck of a time. I just cant seem to get it looking right. Does anyone know of an aftermarket resin cockpit or know any tricks? Ive used PVC and styrene and just cant get it.

Well I don't know about correct, I remade a larger & longer (compared to the actual 5 foot models dimensions) cockpit cone for my MPC:

Thanks Jaitea, that will defiantly help. Did you create a new walkway (the one that goes to the gun turret area) also? or just the round PVC tube that becomes the cockpit? Thanks for your info. I have read your previous build posts of your falcon. I just wondered if you had a trick to getting it all to come out so good. Thanks again.

Thanks Jake,....the walkway was cut off and packed up to make it taller & increasing its diameter,......but I really should have done it differently

I hacked it off:


Imagine 1) is the original part

2) was me sawing the part off losing a lot of the detail

3) is how I should have done it,....removing plastic from the inside


....and I really shouldn't have removed it completely...I should have left where it narrows to the turret attached so that I can pack up one end

.....also I've said tonnes of times watch when hacking/removing parts of the hull as the plastic warps all over the place

before completely cutting through the hull glue a structure on the inside of the craft to keep it stable,...if you can

Thanks so much John for taking the time to explain that to me. I am quaking in my shoes contemplating cutting into that tunnel. I just tried to heat up my cockpit and "stretch" it a little to give it a better profile but lets just say that didn't turn out so well. So now I"m going to delve into the cockpit scratch build. I've gotta put on my big boy pants now and and make some cool stuff! Thanks for the help. I'm into it now!
