I have a kind of a solution that might work for you, depending on how much material you have to stow when not in use.


I do have a bench in my cellar, but I put together a travelling kit to take to club meetings, meetups with other modelers, etc.  After different solutions, I have 2 tool boxes, one small, one large.


The small box came from Dick Blick's Art Supplies, unfinished pine.  I got it originally for my oils for painting figures, but it quickly became storage for some other paints and small tools:

I got a larger Craftsman tool box for the rest of my paints and more small tools:

I can toss some additional things in there, like an LED desk lamp that folds flat, a cutting mat, a brush caddy:

and an old dental tool tray as a brush holder:

everything I need to set up a comfortable temporary work area.  Storing the tool boxes is easy enough, too.  They can fit in a closet, under stairs, etc.
