Laundry detergent caps

Hi, all!

Here's a tip from us thrifty Pennsylvania Dutchmen in the Lehigh Valley.

You know the cap on the jug of laundry detergent? Don't throw it out, when the soap is gone. Wash it out and use it on your work bench.

Open side up, it can hold odds and ends--I use mine for the supply of toothpicks (cocktail sticks, I think they're called elsewhere in the English-speaking world) that I keep for various uses, also for a supply of flat, wooden coffee stirrers (which make great boards in 1/35, 1/48 and 1/72 scales), or also, as a place to park an open bottle of paint or liquid glue, while the container is open. The cap's broad base helps keep it from tipping.

You can do the same thing with caps from spray paint cans.

And I've drilled holes in another cap, to hold items I'm painting, which I've stuck on toothpicks.

Remember, throw nothing out, you might need it someday!

Seid gesundt!
Brad
