Category: Sci-fi
Name of Build: Klingon Bird of Prey
Kit manufacturer: Round2
Scale: 1/350
Description
I've wanted to do this build for a while. Disappointed with the molded wing cannons, I scratch built my own from brass and aluminum tubing and the original "muzzle" from the kit. I've also cut out some of the hull windows and installed LEDs internally to shine through. A couple of LEDs behind a light baffle and a theater gel, provide a warm flickering effect for the engines. I build an LED fader circuit to drive an LED behind the torpedo launcher, and hooked that up to a switch on the model's base.
The paint is Tamiya acrylic with various custom color mixes.
Weathering was done with Tamiya's rust and soot weathering effects.
This is the first model I've tried weathering to this extent, and while I have a lot more to learn about weathering, I'm very happy with this model.
