You're right there Peza, the build has just sllooowwwed down making these!!!

So nothing much to post....

...so instead, I'm going to talk about my first inspiration to modify the MPC Millennium Falcon Kit

In the November 1997 issue of Sci-fi & Fantasy Models:

In the issue Darren Peters explained how he accurised the AMT/Ertl Falcon kit, he gives measurements & valuable advice.

The first modification he made was trimming the height of the sidewalls by 4mm, next he gave details on how to correct the curvature of the hull, he cut a section of EMA tubing approx 62mm in length & 82.5mm outer diameter and attached it directly to the fuselage after fitting the Turret plates. The docking walkways were removed to allow the hull to adjust to it's new shape.

He cut the cockpit section off the upper hull, he fashioned a new walkway by cutting 45mm diameter EMA tubing to the same length as the one he had just removed, except for the tubing that connects at the rear of the cockpit. the walkway should have a long side of 48mm and a short side of 22mm.

He scratchbuilt the canopy's cone-shaped area by wrapping .020 plastic sheeting into a cone, using the kit's original piece as a guide.

He trimmed the resulting cone to 28.5mm in length. He transcribed the new windows to the cone & added additional cross members.

He rebuilt the scanner/antenna support arms & added the Empire/Jedi landing gear boxes.

He used the same technique he had used to make the cockpit canopy to make the docking ring cones.....he went with a circular base of 51mm, tapering down to 45.5mm for the outermost circle.

He dremelled out the clear plastic from the turret windows to keep constancy with the cockpit frames.

Hope these measurements help

John
