I got a brand new Iwata LPH80 spray gun as part of a lot on eBay.

I know these larger spray guns are for automotive work, but is it possible/feasible to use it indoors like in an apartment?? Is it even appropriate to use on 1/35 scale armor?? Or would that be like using a napalm bomb to light a birthday candle?? Any insight appreciated.

I have an automotive touch up gun I got from my Dad's tools when we sold them (after he passed away), and it has a much smaller spray pattern than this one would and it would be too big for doing models.

Maybe if you were scratch building some 1/72 large ships or larger star ships like a 1/100 Enterprise or someting like that, it would make painting the hull easier, but for every day 1/35 tanks.....probably get a smaller spray pattern from a can of spray paint.

I don't know the specs on that model so it's hard to say. I'm shopping for something like that for the specific purpose of shooting primer, or at least just full coverage colors...

Honestly, if you are looking for something like that to shoot primer or solid colors, you are better off just using a spray can.

Something like that is designed to be a touch up gun for automotive use, or very small jobs in the automotive world. Not really suited for model work, unless it would be something very large scale.

That model may be on the large end of desirable models, but he could probably make it work.

I'm inclined to agree with this guy...

'pingvuiini' has the spray gun, he may as well give it a try. As far as using it indoors... I'd say it depends on what pressures he's shooting at and what kind of paint he's using. I'd probably recommend a spray booth of some sort...

In the end, to each their own.
