Italeri 1:48 Hawker Hurricane Mk.1

Decals are done. I really like the sweet skull and sickle markings. I had some pooling of Micro Set at the rear wing root on the starboard side. It made the Future coat haze up. I tried to wipe it out but it kind of ate away the Future and turned black. I'll try to clean it up when everything dries. The haze also showed up under the LE markings on the same side. I'm hoping that it won't be noticeable when the matte coat goes on.

Next step is panel lines.

I had that same problem with micro set and future. It did clear up with a bit of light sanding, and a new clear coat. But mine did turn black, it was a light white fog.

Ever have a problem and then production grinds to a halt? Well... a couple weeks ago the Hurricane was humming along and then we tried to do panel lines. I tried using oils but instead of using mineral spirits for the wash I used lacquer thinner... a moment of sheer stupidity. I damaged the paint on the starboard wing underside. I repainted it but as I masked the "A" code letter lifted off with the tape because I hadn't sealed them. My first attempt at stenciling left an "A" that was too wide and too white.

The redo turned out better.

Sorry the last image is a bit blurry but you can see the size and colour match the original call letters.

So it's back to the panel lines. and some weathering and a few final bits.
