Right back to the roots on this one. My first build ever was a Hurricane with no paint that flew over my bed for years. I've been itching to get this one started.

This looks like a sweet kit. Lots of parts including photo-etched belts, wicked decals and a photographic reference booklet. I'm rolling up my sleeves.

I was in the Calgary airport last November where they have a tribute to RAF pilot Willie McKnight who was from there. I took some pictures of including the famous photo of McKnight with legless Squadron Leader Douglas Bader. McKnight's Hurricane is featured on the box art so that is the one I will be doing.

Finally got a start after a few busy weeks. The cockpit is done.

It went together nicely but I may need to adjust the gun sight and it's mount to fit to the fuselage.

The instrument panel is a decal sheet with a PE covering.

The belts were PE as well. I like the way they turned out.

Looking good, the Hurricane was always the poor cousin of WWII , don't see to many of em.

How do you like the kit? Only ever built one Italeri myself and it was armor.

Fuselage went together nicely. Minimal sanding on the topside. Bottom seam is covered by a unique bottom peice with the stretched fabric lines the Hurricane was famous for. You can see this piece in the background of the first picture.

Scratch-built detailing on sidewall of cockpit can be seen here.

I finished the primer coat. I used Mr. Surfacer 1000, I really like the finish it leaves for the paint. Next step will be pre-shading. I don't know if I will pre-shade the fabric fuselage. I suppose the recessed part would appear a bit darker, wouldn't it?

She looks great under primer Hill!! Personally I would pre-shade the fabric too! add to the depth! You call thoug...keep it coming!!
