Hey guys. I've never seen a tutorial on this technique or really anything, but I'm constantly impressed when I see the realistic-looking chalk marks on panzer hulls on finished kits. So, how do you guys do this? What's the magic ingredient?

I'm should be getting around to painting my Trumpeter 105mm Waffentrager, and I'm mixing 1945 paint schemes (in the excellent AK book) with an upper factory red hull. So, I'm hoping to chalk this one up...so to speak.

Cheers

Probably a couple of different ways to do it.

Sharpened piece of chalk, or white pencil crayon with a fairly soft core just to name a couple.

Just make sure you are putting the marks over a satin or matt surface so the chalk or pencil crayon has something to bite into.
