No. Nothing wrong with using lacquer paint. I thin with lacquer thinner and yes, they can be hand brushed. In fact hardware store lacquer thinner from Walmart had leveling properties in it - even better for a laying down a nice coat airbrushing.

Ventilation is wise, or wear N-95 mask/respirator mask.

As I've already mentioned, I thin a majority of my paints (acrylics, lacquers, and enamels) with lacquer thinner with the exception of certain acrylic brands of paint - PollyScale, Mr. Hobby, Mission Models, etc…
