BarleyBop suggested I post on Introductions, sounds about right. I grew up in the '60s building plastic aircraft, mostly WW II, using Testors glue, paint and brush! Some awfully crude camo and canopy lines!! Dad used model kits on top of the fridge to encourage good grades. It worked. Progressed into R/C planes during the '70s. The '80s were some R/C, no plastic, but began attending airshows and volunteering. Still infatuated with Warbirds and started working the ramp positioning planes and crowd control. Got to know some great pilots and be around cool planes. Took flight training and soloed in a 1946 "Champ" in 1994, earned my Private Pilot License in 1995. Owned a couple "basket case" Stinson AT-19s that I attempted to restore, but a more qualified person needed them more and has since restored at least three using some of my "stash". I've flown in some awesome historic aircraft but mostly enjoyed the privilege of up close experience of touch, smell, sound and remembrance of the history behind each plane. Life, business and family medical crisis' can course correct any individual, and it has me. I'm now retired with my wife, living in a community with the "highest paved runway east of the Mississippi", volunteering as the Airport Manager and ground safety Officer, with a stash of 60+ 1/48 scale aircraft and ample time to build. Returning to my childhood hobby with a lifetime of experience, patience, extensive aviation library, modern equipment, aftermarket delights, and a good Forum to share, is a wonderful Blessing. We are all unique and have so many different talents. But we all have one desire......to build!!!!! Thanks
