Haunted house diorama...a little late for Halloween

Hello SMA, it's been a long time since I've posted. I started working on this kit last September and just kinda pushed it to the side in favor of other stuff. It's a Moebius Models HO scale kit of the house at 1313 Mockingbird lane, from the Munsters TV show.

It was pretty easy to put together. The biggest challenge for me was lighting it. I had the notion stuck in my head that I needed this complex, custom-soldered LED lighting setup to properly light it. And I spent months putting off doing it, because it seemed so complicated.

Finally I decided to just finish it up, so I cobbled together some wire and low-voltage LEDs together, powered with a 9v battery. ::)

Well, let's just say that didn't work out too well, and what I ended up doing was using a simple $5 light fixture from the hardware store with a LED light. It lights up the entire model and plugs right into the wall, no dangerous heat from an incandescent bulb and no fuss. Sometimes the best solution is the easiest solution.

The base is carved from insulation foam, floor tile adhesive and rocks and sand. All kinds of flocking and stuff to make the ground cover. Painted with Vallejo air for the house, and wal-mart apple barrel paints for the base.

Hope you enjoy!

And here's what it looks like with the lights down.

I have that kit in the stash and hope it comes out half as well as that.
It looks fantastic

Very nice finish! The base is excellent, but I think your finish on the house, the weathering on the clapboards especially, is even better. Well done! As to your lighting, I'll say, the simplest solution is always the best!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the feedback. This was quite a fun model to build. I've got it wired into my display case, so the lights all turn on at once. It's hilarious how easy it was to light this thing, as opposed to my DIY lighting setup.
