I bought two big rattle cans of Rustoleum matte and gloss clear enamels to use instead of Vallejo gloss acrylic air brushed on and Mr. Super smooth clear matte from a rattle can. I will see if it is same, better or worse as the intermediate and final coats.

I am starting to question why we pay $6 for 10mil of Tamiya  acrylic paint or 0.25oz of testors enamel vs just buying and mixing colors withhigh quality craft store acrylic paints for maybe 1/3 the price or less per unit. But I also don't want to buy the wrong paint at a craft store and screw up a model, and it is nice to know you are getting exactly Italian Red with the Tamiya brand for example.
