I have always liked the Star war saga, so I decided to start building the space craft. The 1/72 scale seemed appropriate since I am limited on storage space
I started with the cockpit. I had to shave down some of the plastic on the instrument panel to get it to transmit light,
I created the engine glow effect using a 3mm straw hat UV led in series with a 5mm orange flicker led. I think the engine fire effect worked pretty well.
I used black to light block the engine and then spayed white to reflect engine effect better.
I wired the engine by running wire between wing surfaces and through the center post. If I did this again, I would not run the wire through the center post, I would use a separate hollow rod and mount it in the fuselage were it wouldn't show.
Ready to prime.
I wanted to try the new Badger Stynlrez primer. The primers are thick ,so I had to thin to shoot through my Krome. The primer dried to a very smooth durable surface. I was able to handle the model within a few minutes without damaging the paint or scratching the surface. I used all three primers to get a modulated effect. The gray was exceptional, the white seemed to sputter and splatter some. The one drawback to the primer was it lifted up in some places when I used blue painter's tape. My Vallejo primer does the same thing even after curing for several days. Maybe it's just me and the way I'm applying the primer. I am still committed to using acrylic primer, I need to prime indoors without running everyone out of the house. Just need to figure out what going on and correct the problem.
I created mask from the decal sheet and applied the negative, then the positive mask. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the mask into Mactack vinyl.
This image shows how the primer lifted. Fortunately I was able to repair and re-spray the area.
Now for painting and weathering. I used an oil wash and it seemed to darken everything to much.
A little scale comparison. 28mm versus 1/72 scale.
Pilot painted and started on base.
Finished model.

Next I will work on a Y-wing, I now have the Millenium Falcon, but I'm not in any hurry to tackle that model.
Thanks again, all comments welcome
