I have noticed that not all of the 1/24 sports cars series models are created equal. Some dont even have engines. Is that due to price points. I have bout $30 models with great detail so i dont think its how much you spend.

Asian kits are much better quality than anything AMT or Revell puts out, so it's a real bummer that they don't include engines in most of their kits.

What I do is search Scalemates for Tamiya kits that include engines. That way I know I'm buying a full detail kit.

Some examples:
There is a silver Supra kit that includes an engine.
A black Toyota Celica GT4 includes an engine.
The Honda Prelude XX Tamiya just re-released has an engine.

I just found this out recently as well, built my first Tamiya car, and only half an engine and the hood molded closed. I was shocked. No engine is a curbside kit and not sure what the partials are called. I will say the rest of the car was very detailed and it was a very fun build. I'm defiantly getting more of them in the future.
