I forget who it was here that did it but they sprayed a flat coat over the PE to change the colors a bit.  They also drybrushed some pigment in there as well.  I also read a post on another site about the same issue your having.  Apparently I guess different colors look different at different scales.  Maybe Eduard used dark blue on purpose?  Anyways, good luck, i'm sure you'll figure it out.
