This question has probably been answered before. I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. I'm working on a Tamiya 1/48 scale Me262A-1a. The paint directions show ( XF7-7 : 1 + XF-56 : 5) . I am guessing they want to mix 1 part red with 5 parts gray. Got the color pink. Seems odd. Was my thinking correct?

Thank you for replying urumomo. Yes step 10. Looks to be more of a rust color. I'll have to tweak it a bit to match photos if it is a combination of paints. Where did you find the photos? A good resource for more accurate assembly.

You are correct in what the measurements mean with Tamiya paints. I have found it very helpful to keep all my Tamiya instructions so I can go back and reference color mixes.

I used Goggle Images .
Searched : " Jumo 004 engine " and " Me 262 engine "

Like Jim says , that is the correct interpretation of the paint instructions - 1 part red to 5 of the grey .
Red is pretty potent so it's easy to add too much .

Also, XF-56 is not grey but a light metallic colour. You should end up with a pinkish metallic colour, judging by the ratios.

Thanks for the replies. Jakko you are correct I got the gray mixed up with the metalic gray.
