Next up is a fairly quick little build.
Going to build up three of Bandai's 'mecha colle' scale ships from versions of Space Battleship Yamato.
First up is the original version of the Yamato herself.
This one dates back, I think, to the 80s

Next up is the newer '2199' version of the Yamato

Followed by the '2202' version of the twin-barrelled Andromeda

Despite the size, there are a lot of parts of these kits

The instructions are printed on the box tops, so are very hard for my eyes to focus on anymore

So, I scanned them into my computer. Then I printed them out at 8 1/2" x 11"

Did some preliminary painting on the Yamato and parts of the Andromeda

After giving all three ships a black wash to bring out the detail, I put the markings on the Andromeda and used some spares from its sheet for the 2199 Yamato

Cool Beans !

This made me remember the Super Dreadnought I did using 2 of the Andromeda kits .... That thread is also missing from SMA .

What a great trio!

I always wanted to do a dio of the Yamato and Andromeda confronting each other in the game of chicken.

I got the old style mecha kits, and they are cool, but the newer 2199 and 2202 ones look a little better detail wise

Thanks
Definitely preferring the detail on the newer versions, myself.
Of course, they do have SEVERAL years of advancement on technique for molding kits

They were definitely fun, G.
And I was looking for something quick and fairly easy.
This fit the bill
