Well,

I love to see others progress and learn. Weather its been modelling, music, life..... what ever ;)

So I shall be subjecting you all to another build thread. This is my first bash with my new Badger airbrush, so I did the really horrible bits, like the seam on the command pod etc....... but other that that, this is me learning in photographs ;D

Yall are probably sick of me now, hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaaaaaaaahahahahahaaaaaa :p

Pre-Shading Quonos-1, from "The Undiscovered Country"

ps, Quonos 1 shall be my........... Muse, for this piece.

The Actual one os intricate on a bonkers level! But, i promise. I shall try my best!

She's a beauty isn't she? Nice work on the masking. And nothing wrong with hand brushing IMO. Do what gives you the most pleasure and what yields an acceptable result.

I always get leaks when I do panel masking, so this a great result as far as I can tell.

What kit is this? Looks really nice. I've just bought a Polar Lights D7 from ebay.

Very nice so far dude, i'm enjoying starting to use an AB too they are awesome tools.....how thin do you use your paint and how long do you leave between coats as i'm always worried the two may blend if i'm too quick (must learn to be patient lol ).

ok,

a) I have no problem with hand painting, BUT......

This project is about the new toy, so a airbrush we will go! Besides, brush marks suck!

b) Im leaving it to dry for an hour or 2. I have been cheating a little with a heat gun from 8/10" away. As for the consistency, and the MILK theory. Im mixing thicker than milk, as im finding that if its too thin, it has a bad habit of sitting in little puddles. Yes, I also know that a matter of paint flow and air pressure. Anything between 15 and 18 psi seems to be the ticket. And I start EVERY painting session, even if its just changing colours with the paint flow closed off, and then open from there.

Slowly applying loads of thin layers is smooth and realistic, lots of paint makes it look like a model, or a toy?

Happy new year everyone :D

I ended up with an Iwata Revoultion CR and it seems to work best for fine details at about 10-15 psi with very thin paint and standard painting at about 15 - 20 psi with milky type paint.

Not sure i'd have the patience for all that masking.....good effort. :)

Progress report.................

Off with the tape ;D

Of course, now im having a big debate as to weather she had the grey and red feather markings at all.

Trek fascists, love em!

If someone were to ask me what ship this is, I would tell them it's Quonos One. Those red feathers are unmistakable.

Looks superb!

Looking very good here.
Nice work on the feathers.

On a side note, I must say that I like your choice in Youtube channels :p

I noticed that as well. Discrimination I say! We each need a photo with our YouTube channels in the background!
