I don't know about airbrushed Valejo paints.

I just use Rustoleum or Krylon rattle can paints. I leave them extra time to dry/cure, like at least 24+ hours.

I figure rattle-can paints are formulated for any idiot to use without much trouble.

So, that works great for me.
