Alien XO Kane Polar Lights resin kit

That was just a dry fit out of the box...

I've been busy with seams and refining the fit and making room for wiring.

Yep, very cool. I just got mine from SSM.
You mentioned wiring, are you doing your own lights or is there a lighting kit somewhere? TIA

As of now, I'm planning on trying to figure out the lighting on my ow, even though I've never done any and electrical is probably my weakest field.

This guy ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV5ojPk9VxammtvNXlyrfCQ ) is doing the kit for a client who supposedly has a 'kit' that might be available for purchase; I haven't looked into any details, yet...

I need to get on the ball because I'm almost ready for primer and I bought 9 bottles of Vallejo yesterday for all of the colors Tamiya didn't cover.

Plenty of progress, just failing to post anything.

Ordered some fiber optics stuff yesterday, when that shows up I'll be able to sort out the rest of the lighting.

Comments and questions welcomed,
Thanks for looking.

Much progress, few updates.
Lots of fiddling and learning with the lighting.

The following shots of the face are all of the same paint work. The differences are purely due to lighting and/ or shadows.
It's crazy what a difference it makes.

This angle, kinda 'meh'...

Questions and comments welcome, especially when it come to the face painting. It's my first of this size so I'm just winging it as I go.

Thanks Q. I will probably leave the face as is, especially since its going to be in a dark helmet behind 'glass'.

Just got caught up with this thread and WOW - looks terrific.
Have you any ideas of what to do with the egg in the light of the video's result with the guy painting it?

Man that looks awesome, gotta get this kit! The box's claim of "NO SEAM LINES" doesn't appear to be true. Were they a pain to clean up? Looks like you did a good job on 'em.

Looking outstanding!!

Really do need to learn how to weather and detail metallic surfaces. Mine always kinda suck.

Cant wait to see this finished :)

Thanks gents!

Go Flight, I'm planning on thinning the egg drastically to allow light thru from LEDs I plan to but on the 'floor' and I'm hoping to do a bare minimum of washes on the outside that will make it look painted when the lights are off.

Mikey W, the bronze armor is just some serious dry brushing, just a few Model Master colors alternated back and forth.
I have some of the green oxidation done, but also got to aggressive with it in some places and started pulling up the bronze colors. :-\ :'( That's why the kit has been untouched for a few weeks, had to cool my head.

Cave Dweller, umm, difficult, no. Just time consuming because of the area they were. This resin material is kinda cool, kind of like a real hard plaster.
