Just got this kit in the other day, very impressed with the direction Airfix is going with their new tooled kits.

This is a new variant of their already released kit of their 1/72 P-51D Mustang with the Tuskegee Airman markings. This variant adds a new sprue, as well as 2 other variations of markings.

Lovely panel line and rivet detail on this kit, you wouldn't think this was 1/72

Interior detail

Second Tree, Upper and lower wings, pilot, exhaust. Positionable flaps on a 1/72 kit? Sure in the higher priced, higher quality kits, but wasn't expecting to see it here.

Wing closeup, again, great detail in the panel lines

All in all, a very nice little kit, great detail, a little bit of minor flash on some of it, but nothing that isn't easily fixed with a swipe of a sanding stick or knife. Suitable for all builders from Novice to Experienced.

Sure, there could be more detail in the cockpit, some engraved instruments on the control panels, but at this scale the decal instruments will do fine, stick the pilot figure in the seat, and button up the canopy and you will never see it anyway at this scale.

And the best part, you get all of this for less than $8. How could you go wrong?

Got to give credit where its due ,and Airfix have really got their game together lately ,Im really impressed with most of their new tools ,would love to see them redo some old kits like the Hampden , Boultan Paul Defiant ,amongst others :) ...hope they do ;D

Saw this kit firsthand last week and was floored by the quality, particularly given the $6.50 price point. Prompted me to look at the 109E kit which I thought was equally good (and bought two of).
