As my other two projects wind down, it's time to finally get moving on my GB Project.

F/A - 18C

I have on order some resin and the Eduard Big Ed set for this kit, and I'll also be lighting the cockpit and exterior. Wish me luck ... ;D

BOX ART TIME!!!

And now I'm off to play football/soccer. Full kit review in the next post.

Oooo, will be watching this one closely. That is a sweet kit, used it for my 1/32 CF-18 project from last year. One of my all time favorite builds.

This will simply be a treat to watch! What position do you plan to display the wings in?

FRUIT!! Where ya been dude? Thanks for tagging along, this will be quite a large project!

@Carsenault: So I'm sure you'll have plenty of good tips then? Is your build here on SMA? Got a link? Did you use any resin or AM parts? Which did you use if you did? Ever see any Marine decals for this kit? What is your favorite color? Why is the sky blue?

Thanks for following.

WOW  What a whopper ;D....Looks nice !

Chris.

Kit Review Part 1.

You can skip this part Carsenault as I'm sure this is all old news to you. ;)

This kit has a ton of plastic, and it's all very large. That's good for details, but bad for when you move down a scale and go blind trying to find the wings.

Every piece has been given good respect with individualized packaging to include the one piece nose cone.

The clear parts are fantastic and VERY clear.

There are both Rubber (or vinyl or whatever they are) tires, and plastic. YOUR CHOICE.

IMG_20111016_022811.jpg

Screwdriver and screws. Pretty standard with most 1/32 scale kits these days.

IMG_20111016_023436.jpg

Landing gear metal supports. The plastic fits around these when building up the gears.

IMG_20111016_023607.jpg

Some bad shots of the very quality decals. I'm still not sure if I'm using these or not. Still on the lookout for a Marine version to build of this. Haven't had much luck finding any decal sets for the C model so if anyone has information on them..., I'd love to know. :)

Figures all look nice. A rarity in aircraft kits it seems.

Fuselage top half.

IMG_20111016_023007.jpg

Bottom half detail shot. Some pretty nice molded in work there I thought.

IMG_20111016_022954.jpg

More shots of big pieces of plastic. Rivets, lines..., everything is nice on this kit

IMG_20111016_023023.jpg

And finally, some pods on one of the small sprues. I assume this was added in for the C variant as this plastic is completely different than the rest of the kit. Much like the figures too.

So as you can see I've got my work cut out for this fall/winter. Just wait till you see all the sprues of plastic in the box.
I'm having some trouble acquiring my BigEd set through my LHS (I like to buy through them as much as possible), so that is delaying the build a little. While I'm waiting on that I'm going to add part two or the review here in a couple of days and then get some work done on my Stryker over in the War Wheels Group Build.

Thanks for following and all the best.

Try to play catch-up here and there on all the other GB builds!! What a monster!!! She definitely looks like an awesome kit!! This will be fun to watch!!! ;)

MIKE :D (I've been swamped by life)

What a beauty of a kit! The quality looks real great, but then again I don't know too much about the F/a-18 (After all, I'm more of a Tomcat guy :p)

Now get with posting review part 2 ;)

Per your request Fruit

PART DOS

There is a lot of plastic, and subsequently there will be a lot of photos.

Lining on the inside of the box. Why am I showing you this? I have no idea. It's a nice touch to the packaging.

Three of the sprues have a duplicate so as you can see, there is a lot of plastic. They even give you 4 engine nozzles since they are on one of the duplicated sprues.

Close up shots in the next post. ;)

Man ...Thats a lot of plastic  This one is going to be good !!

Chris.
